Applicant Spotlight: Sheriena Johnson

Sheriena Johnson came to the Jubilee Jobs orientation after learning about us at Jubilee Housing, where she currently lives. After completing our week-long job placement and preparation program, she  was offered a job at Capital Bikeshare. She has been working as a Corral Attendant for more than two months now.

“I like my job, I can save, and I can go out and eat. My first goal was to find a job, I have accomplished that. My second goal was to start saving, I have started it. My third  goal is to have my own apartment and keep it. I am working on my third goal.” Sheriena, who arrives at work early everyday, just learned that she may be getting promoted to a full-time “Rebalancing Checker” position during the next season.

But Sheriena isn’t waiting for a promotion to start helping others. She has been stopping by our office on a weekly basis and donating $5—$8 so that other job seekers can afford transportation and other necessities, such as shoes for an applicant’s recent interview. As she explains “ I am very thankful to Jubilee Jobs for giving me a chance and for helping me. You gotta make the best of it, don’t stop. You can always get what you had, ten times better. I could not have done this on my own without Jubilee Job’s help.”

Your support has made this possible. Please continue supporting us for summer challenge campaign!
