Applicant Spotlight: Omar

For a man who loves driving, Omar has landed somewhat of a dream job. Last month, he started working as a Patient Transporter at Christ House, one of Jubilee Jobs’ community partners that provides comprehensive and compassionate health care to people experiencing homelessness and acute medical needs.

Omar first connected with Jubilee Jobs in 2019 and got a couple of cleaning positions while driving Uber. One time, Omar picked up his Job Counselor Paul on Wisconsin Avenue and drove him home. Paul didn’t forget Omar’s professional driving ability, so when the job at Christ House opened up, Paul was more than ready with Omar’s resume, knowing that Omar would be the perfect candidate to shuttle patients to and from their doctors’ appointments with a smile!

With his skills and his wonderful personality, Omar was quickly welcomed by Christ House into the role of the Patient Transporter. His boss John Craig, Clinical Support Manager, said that Omar “comes to work on time and is always up for any challenge. He’s a pleasure in that way and one of the nicest people you could meet.” We hope to see him behind the wheel of the Christ House van for a long time to come.
