Applicant Spotlight: Lasaundra Miller

Lasaundra Miller is an example of how Jubilee Jobs is there for our applicants who return many years after being placed in a job. Lasaundra is a native Washingtonian and graduated from Dunbar High School. She first came to Jubilee Jobs to find a job in 2003 and was placed at the University of Maryland as a housekeeper in the university’s on-campus hotel. She has always been involved in helping people and has worked on-and-off with people with disabilities.

In 2015, Lasaundra returned to Jubilee Jobs and was quickly placed at George Washington University in the maintenance department, but then left to care for her aging mother. This year, Lasaundra came back looking for a job and was placed within two weeks as a concierge at The Newport Condominiums. Lasaundra says, “I enjoy greeting the residents in the building and accommodating them with their needs.”

In addition to working at The Newport, Lasaundra works at N Street Village (a nonprofit for women experiencing homelessness) as a program advocate. In this role, she does paraprofessional case management, including helping residents apply for IDs, food stamps, social security/social security disability insurance, and she listens to residents’ concerns.

Lasaundra says, “I have much love for Jubilee Jobs!” and she hopes to make an impact on someone else’s life and give back what was given to her. We can see that Lasaundra certainly is making a difference for so many.
