Staff Reflections of 2021

“If there was one word that represented Jubilee Jobs in 2021, it would be persistence. Despite the challenges of being hybrid due to Covid-19, our applicants continued to show hope on Mondays [at orientation], volunteers continued to devote their time, and donors continued to support the mission. This year showed me that Jubilee Jobs isn’t just a job placement organization, but a true community where hope is fulfilled!”
-- Vince Van, Volunteer and Job Friends Coordinator

“Being a Job Counselor at Jubilee Jobs has been amazing so far. It is really rewarding to have the opportunity to help change people’s lives. This is the best staff I have ever been a part of.”
-- Clary Colon, Job Counselor

“My highlight of this year was coming in to work every day during the hard and good times.”
 -- George Burdine, Building Manager

“I think many of us didn’t know what to expect at Jubilee Jobs throughout the year in terms of our applicants and the job market. However, we were quickly able to adapt to any changes to make sure we continued to place our applicants.”
-- Kenneth Guerrero, Development Associate

“My highlight of 2021, to be honest with you, is the same as my highlight every day at Jubilee Jobs. My highlight was that I was able to come into 2712 Ontario Road each day and help whoever needed help. I cannot really isolate any one case because the feeling I get when I see that someone’s life has been changed for the better is always the same: it’s the best. BUT if I had to hone in on one applicant, I would highlight Rondail Thompson and the almost endless process of getting him into his job at the Kennedy Center, which has given him practically a new lease on life.”
-- Paul Newport, Job Counselor

“The entire Jubilee Jobs staff have done an amazing job working during the pandemic. I am very pleased that we’ve exceeded our goal of placing over 300 applicants with jobs in 2021.”
-- DeSean Lawson, Emerging Leaders Coordinator

“The highlight of 2021 was to work alongside a resilient and dedicated staff through a second year of the unpredictable pandemic. In addition to placing applicants in jobs, the staff was also present to their concerns, offering a listening ear and moral support.  Jubilee Jobs is truly a place of hope for those needing a work and community and compassion.”
-- Christine Gossens, Executive Director
